    Job Title:  Art Director, Trade Publishing (12 MONTH CONTRACT)


    Department:  Retail Marketing


    Reports to:  Creative Director, Trade Publishing

    The Art Department of one of the world’s largest book publishers is looking for an experienced innovative Art Director to work on our Trade Imprints.


    Ideal prior experience includes a portfolio that represents strong conceptual skills mixed with flawless technique; including work with photographers, illustrators, typographers and designers.

    The ideal candidate will have experience within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and understand how to juggle multiple projects while providing solid design solutions. They have a keen eye for photography, excellent typography skills and the ability to lead, and communicate effectively with others - internally and externally.


    The position requires a team player who is versatile, can think on their feet and see projects through to completion - or the versatility to take projects from idea to completion using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The ideal candidate will understand how to juggle priorities and diplomacy while providing solid design solutions.

    Experience required:

    •5+ years Art Direction experience (Publishing an asset but not necessary)
    •Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design/Fine Arts
    •An impressive portfolio showcasing deep art direction experience
    •Proficiency in a MAC environment
    •Strong Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign skills
    •Strong relationships / contacts with Photographers, Illustrators, Typographers and Designers
    •Ability to present innovative design solutions
    •Clear communication and presentation skills
    •Organizational skills and attention to detail 
    •Excellent interpersonal skills
