Senior Royalty Accountant

The Senior Royalty Accountant works with the Sr. Royalty Manager to ensure timely and accurate payments to our authors and agents. This role manages scheduling and planning for the preparation and printing of statements, beneficiary changes, account maintenance and postings, contract set up and review, and extensive internal and external reporting and analysis.  A successful candidate will be able to deliver on current responsibilities with an overall goal of improving reporting, analysis, and royalty processing at HCCP.


The main responsibilities of the Senior Royalty Accountant include:

  1. Preparing and delivering author royalty statements:  statement printing, sorting, and payment review for author royalty statements to ensure on time delivery.
  2. Beneficiary changes:  creates all general ledger and system entries for changes in royalty beneficiaries and accounts.
  3. Contract set up and review: Review reports of released titles to set up new royalty system contracts and ensure accuracy for all royalty rules.
  4. Royalty system expertise:  work with the Sr. Royalty Manager to ensure all transactions within the royalty system (Klopotek) are properly reflected in the financial system. 
  5. Ad hoc reporting:  creates reports for internal and external customers upon request.
  6. Process improvement:  actively seeks out ways to improve processes or systems as they relate to the Royalty Department and systems.
  7. Publisher support:  Prepares and delivers quarterly review reporting to each Publisher for statement review and approval.  Provides ongoing support as needed for specific requests or in preparation of author meetings.
  8. Author relations:  ensures outstanding support for all author inquiries, updates, and other requests from authors and agents.


Work Experience:

A minimum of 4 years in a corporate accounting, finance, or royalty department in a staff accounting or leadership role. Knowledge of royalty accounting or data warehouse systems preferred. 



Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.


Industry Knowledge:

Knowledge of book royalties, author contracts, and contract interpretation preferred.



Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills strongly preferred.
