Love audiobooks?  Then work with HarperAudio this summer as an intern and learn all about the process of how a manuscript is turned into an audiobook!

 

HarperAudio produces over 600 audiobooks a year in digital and physical platforms, spanning the genres of children’s and adult fiction, self-help, romance, business, science fiction and classics. Our catalog includes titles by Neil Gaiman, Harper Lee, Wally Lamb, and Agatha Christie among many others, and we are proud to feature narrators as diverse as Kate Mulgrew, Anderson Cooper, Deepak Chopra, and Nikki Giovanni. In addition, our extensive backlist includes archival recordings of T.S. Eliot, J.R.R. Tolkien, Doris Lessing and Dylan Thomas reading their works.

 

This summer internship is a paid opportunity (28 hours per week), and it will run from June 11 through August 16 for a total of 10 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Updating missing BISAC (Book Industry Standards and Communications) codes for backlist titles in internal database.
  • Researching run times for backlist titles (pulling audio files from the digital asset management system and plugging into iTunes).
  • Marking up manuscripts requiring enhancements.
  • Reviewing and updating metadata.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be at least entering their junior year of college
  • Applicants going into their senior year of college, grad students, or college graduates preferred
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and iTunes; Mac experience a plus
  • Strong analytical reading and writing skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Is detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects
