Purchasing Analyst

US-NJ-Monmouth Junction


HarperCollins Publishers is currently seeking an Information Technology (IT) Purchasing Analyst who will manage the day to day IT asset requests, maintenance renewals of asset records, troubleshoot discrepancies in vendor invoices and support the enterprise by tracking and managing assets throughout the asset lifecycle.  This individual will

help to drive improved vendor service levels, minimizing risk while improving business results, standardizing and automating business and IT purchasing best practices and processes.


This position is located in our office in monmouth Junction (Princeton), NJ.



  • Establishes Technology Services purchasing procedures and ensures compliance.
  • Purchases Information Technology services, supplies, equipment and other related products, as needed, using the appropriate established purchasing procedures.
  • Investigates incorrect or late orders and initiates corrective action or recommendations for action; negotiates adjustments, credits, returns, specifications and/or prices changes
  • Determines vendors capacity and ability to meet quality standards, specifications and delivery schedules; establishes and seeks alternative sources of products
  • Responsible for vendor management including setting up new vendors, issuing or approving purchase orders and facilitating payments.
  • Manages service providers
  • Manages software license administration which includes:
    • Track all software licenses
    • Manage license acquisition and maintenance renewals
  • Infrastructure Maintenance Renewals
    • Track all contracts
    • Manage renewals including, equipment covered and support terms
  • Works on special projects on an ad hoc basis.  




  • Minimum three years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Sufficient awareness of current technologies (hardware & software) to conduct evaluations of multiple vendors solutions to determine the most appropriate product to purchase.
  • Self-starter with excellent business/financial acumen, proficient working with cross-functional teams, including demonstrated motivation, influence, and the ability to drive change across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent leadership skills including clearly demonstrated market perspective and understanding of factors impacting businesses and their vendors.
  • Excellent vendors management skills including demonstrated ability to develop and manage business driven vendors relationships.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong competency with the Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Consistent track record of being able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones and geographies
  • JDE Financials and Hyperion Planning are a plus
  • Ability to travel via car to Montage, PA for the first couple of months for training.
