This position is located in our Princeton, NJ office.

  

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Paper Procurement Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for paper procurement and inventory management. A background in planning, forecasting and scheduling the purchase of paper or other products is required. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a strong eye for detail, enjoy multitasking and work well with others to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Paper procurement leader to meet needs of several publishing divisions
  • Manage a variety of inventory levels, research history of orders and past usages
    • Review stocking list daily to maintain acceptable inventory levels.
    • Raise awareness of any concerns

  • Cut accurate PO’s utilizing Harper’s oracle based system, JDE
    • Accuracy of PO’s is essential for success
    • Follow up on rush and open orders
    • Expedite and follow-up of purchase orders to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
    • Assist Accounts Payable/Receiving to resolve invoice issues
  • Work closely with production teams and suppliers
    • Field paper inquiries from Production team members to meet paper requirements for printing books.
    • Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to assess risk, review future strategies and identify potential cost reduction and improvement opportunities
    • Assist in resolution of quality paper issues with suppliers

  • Adhere to all company and departmental policies, procedures and ensure compliance.
    • Manage quarterly paper testing program

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years’ experience in purchasing/procurement, book manufacturing experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and JDE/Oracle knowledge
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Eye for detail and accuracy of information
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Works well with others; professionalism and courtesy a must
  • Strong Sense of urgency, ability to prioritize work.
