HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Benefits Coordinator reporting to the Director of Benefits. In this role, the Benefits Coordinator will assist in the administration of employee benefit plans (medical, dental, life, disability, flexible spending), all benefits-related projects and worker’s compensation for all employees. This position requires proactive, strategic thinking with hands-on execution of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Processes HRIS payroll data and updates health & welfare system.
  • Conducts new hire benefits orientations.
  • Resolves active and termed employee claims issues and paycheck questions.
  • Handles 401k administration and audit.
  • Handles SOX audit.
  • Assists and educates employees during the open enrollment process.
  • Prepares retiree packages and serves as Empyrean contact.
  • Assists with medical plan and program implementations.
  • Prepares COBRA notices, evaluates subsidy approval status, and serves as point of contact for questions.
  • Processes unemployment and workers comp claims.
  • Updates medical claims spreadsheets.
  • Responds to all employment verification requests.
  • Processes invoices.
  • Serves as a primary administrator for the employee time management system. 
  • Runs ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Provides administrative support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years of administration experience, preferably in a Human Resources department, Benefits experience preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with an HRIS system a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize a large number of projects
