Systems Analyst

We are currently seeking a Systems Analyst to serve as a functional liaison between business and technology teams. The Systems Analyst will be responsible for gathering business requirements, documenting the business/processes/systems including functional and technical specifications, and delivering documentation to the relevant teams. The ideal candidate will be able to work with the business to identify system requirements that meet the business need.


  • Define application problem by conferring with clients; evaluating procedures and processes.
  • Prepare business requirements document (BRD) and functional requirement document (FRD) or technical design document (TDD) as required.
  • Create process/data flow diagrams using Visio and prepare data model and use cases.
  • Work with the technical team to facilitate build effort and partner with the business to ensure sign-off on all requirements, testing and implementation.
  • Develop specifications with sufficient detail to facilitate handed off to internal or external developers. Work with Developers to ensure specifications are clear and help to resolve open issues.
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Developers and Subject Matter Experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between scope and timing, usability and functional needs.
  • Work with the business to identify opportunities, and help shape and deliver the appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in UAT and Post-production testing, including test scripts execution, analysis and validation, documentation, and proper communication of test plan to ensure substantiation of specified results.
  • Provide framework reference regarding the solution by writing documentation or preparing presentation documents.
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional and Technical specification document).
  • Engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Provide regular status updates on progress to Department managers, highlighting areas where the acquisition and analysis of information to produce the specification will take longer than expected, or where dependencies exist that may not be evident to other project team members.


  • 3-5 years of experience in Business Analysis, Systems Analysis or related experience (media or publishing experience preferred).
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding in interpreting customer business needs and translating those needs into application and operational requirements
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or any other project methodologies.
  • Ability to facilitate JAD sessions and one-on-one meetings with business, work independently on strategic issues with stakeholders, effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
  • Experience in SQL (Microsoft Transact SQL) is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel including Macros is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills 
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of time, dependent upon Business needs
