Sales Director - New Business Development

The Sales Director - New Business Development exists to bring new business to the sales department. He or she will identify, make contact with and initiate new accounts for the sales department. He or she will seek out opportunities in which our full product line may add value to or in which a specific book can be sold. This person will be responsible for identifying and opening new business opportunities and oversee in the transition to an account manager.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Identify, contact & open new account/business opportunities
  • Present our company in a positive & authoritative manner to a wide spectrum of potential partners in multiple industries.
  • Have a thorough understanding of our product & our consumers.
  • Communicate both written & verbal strategies and actions being made to achieve prescribed goals.
  • Travel. Must be able to travel frequently & at times on short notice.


Work Experience: At least 6-8 years in B-to-B sales, preferably in a creative content environment. Experience in new business acquisition & development is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to someone with experience in a creative content environment.


Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.


General and/or Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of retail & on-line sales environment, key competitors & trends. An understanding of selling creative content, branding & marketing is preferred.

  • Negotiator: Must be able to maturely & positively represent the needs of the company in negotiating business opportunities & terms. Must be able to work toward & create a win-win value proposition with our potential customers.
  • Public Speaker/Communicator/Influencer/Persuader: Whether a small or large group, able to speak clearly, confidently and concisely. As the first person many will see from our company, able to communicate our values, vision and products in a positive and persuasive manner. Able to listen well and maturely & positively represent HCCP.
  • Presentation Skills: Proficient in both verbal & written presentations. Able to walk through a presentation deck.
  • Computing Skills: Proficient in basic business computing including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Relationship Manager/ Corporate Path Finder: Able to develop rapport with others; develop a network of contacts; build and maintain long-term relationships with both internal & external stakeholders.
  • Able to work Independently: Self-starter, requires little oversight, highly committed to the task at hand.
  • Highly structured & organized: Reliable, does not drop the ball.
  • Multi-Tasker: Able to handle multiple projects at one time while also properly prioritizing opportunities & needs.
  • Decision Making and Problem Solving: Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use reason especially when dealing with sensitive topics; able to assess a situation to determine the underlying issue or problem.
  • Tolerance of Ambiguity: Able to remain productive and successfully manage delays, changes, missing information and unexpected events.
  • Ability to Work both Independently & Collaboratively: Must be self-motivated and a able to achieve goals independently but also to see where a group approach is best and rally support from across the organization.
  • Experienced: Has developed new business opportunities. Understands firsthand how to break through the barriers to get in front of key stakeholders & decision makers.


  • Collaborative: Must be able to garner both internal & external support for our company, our products and the company being worked with. Works across boundaries & channels to bring groups together to achieve the goal.
  • Flexible: Able to remain open minded and change direction on the basis of new information. Able to deal with multiple companies & industries. Must be able to quickly and concisely bring unresolved issues to conclusion.
  • Professional: Able to present our company in a manner conclusive with our ideals to top level stakeholders & decision makers. Able to positively represent the company at any level up to and including the C-Suite.
