2017 Fall Editorial Intern, Avon

We are currently seeking an intern who loves romance to support the Editorial department for our Avon imprint! 


Our fall internship program is a great way to get real experience in the book publishing industry while still managing a school course-load. At the end of the program, interns will attend a presentation on "How to Get a Job in Book Publishing" which will include tips on your resume, cover letter, and interview!


The fall program will run from mid-September through mid-November, for a total of 10 weeks, and interns will work a total of 14 hours per week (2 full days), with an hour for lunch every day.


The internship program is a paid program.


  • Read and evaluate romance submissions, provide reader’s reports, and write rejection letters.
  • Assist with cover copy.
  • Provide editorial support.
  • Basic administrative duties.
  • Learning the editorial process from the very first stage and helping to manage the reading load.


  • All applicants MUST be at least entering their sophomore year of college, and preference will be given to those entering their junior or senior year of college.  Grad school students may also apply
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical reading and writing skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Is detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Familiarity with and strong interest in romance books
