HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, seeks an organized, creative, multi-tasking Publicist to handle all aspects of publicity campaigns for multiple titles each month in a busy department. HarperOne specializes in books by high-profile authors and experts including personal development, spirituality, religion, business, and healthy living.


  • Publicizes books and authors; schedules interviews with broadcast, print and online media with a strong emphasis on national media
  • Plans and coordinates author tours/appearances at bookstores and others venues, as well as livestreaming outlets.  Coordinates author travel and local media in conjunction with events
  • Develops media contacts, briefs authors on how to handle interviews, and accompanies authors to local events
  • Writes press releases, pitch letters and additional promotional materials
  • Coordinates all publicity activities on assigned titles from the mailing of galleys to the development of proper angles and pitches
  • Schedules and plans author appearances and special events
  • Coordinates regular publicity updates
  • Manages work within allocated budgets for each title
  • Assists with departmental duties including internship program, galley orders for department, seasonal round ups, etc.
  • Participates in editorial board and collaborates with marketing and editorial


  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years prior relevant work experience - including experience booking media, familiarity with the media, ability to source and research new media contacts
  • Experience with/knowledge of nonfiction genres including personal development, spirituality, religion, business, and healthy living
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be detailed-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage priorities under pressure
  • Ability to take initiative and direction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Strong detail management skills are necessary 
  • Able to travel to author events in San Francisco
