Overview

The Inventory Specialist will oversee the supply chain life cycle for all consigned inventory placed in Mexico and certain other Spanish-speaking countries throughout Latin America. Manage the inventory to ensure the company achieves all critical metrics related to the annual budget, including fill rate, cost-of-product (COP), inventory investment, returns, etc. The Inventory Specialist will primarily support the Sales and Operations teams in-country remotely from Nashville with on-site visits as needed. Coordination and analysis also will involve a number of domestic teams throughout the US.

Responsibilities

The Inventory Specialist’s primary duties consist of managing a significant investment in consigned inventory to support the sales growth of HCCP’s Spanish Publishing business internationally. The objective is to maximize the inventory ROI and minimize the obsolescence. Position will accomplish the foregoing by:

 

  • Planning/Forecasting and reporting of product levels, movement and location (in conjunction with sales reporting) on a daily/monthly/fiscal basis
  • Participating in periodic inventory updates as part overall Spanish business reviews
  • Managing the supply chain to ensure that demand changes are adjusted for in min/max levels and by recommending changes to the core product mix on a specific title/ISBN/SKU basis
  • Balancing overall investment in consignment inventory with increased sales of published product
  • Maximizing fill rate while meeting the COP and inventory goals
  • Reconciling reporting discrepancies
  • Directing inventory levels at various locations world-wide
  • Recommending changes to specific title/ISBN/SKU
  • Ensuring the timely billing of sold consignment inventory
  • Researching and recommending efficiencies and changes to process and reporting to ensure accurate consignment inventory records

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of making sound business decisions based on the corporate strategy and industry trends
  • Capable of obtaining intimate knowledge of corporate internal systems
  • Must be able to work autonomously as well as part of a cross-functional team
  • Very strong organization, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to develop rapport and positive working relationships with coworkers
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail is critical

 

Knowledge:

  • Experienced in Supply Chain Planning and ERPSystems, required (JD Edwards and NetSuite preferred)
  • Experienced Microsoft Office Suite user:  Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, Power Point, Visio, SharePoint, Office 365
  • Demonstrated experience in working successfully with 3PL (distributors and freight-forwarders), preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in working successfully with customs agencies internationally, preferred

 

Work Experience:

  • 2 or more years purchasing and/or inventory management on a consignment basis, required
  • Past experience in managing inventory in Mexico and/or Latin America, preferred
  • Past experience managing multiple inventory locations, preferred

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

 

Industry Knowledge: Experience in the printing and publishing sectors (including web press, print on demand and short print-runs) is a plus

 

Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish
